Why attend

Discover our vision for developing next generation of wildlife trade indicators, built from big data, designed for impact, and aligned with global frameworks.

Session Description

Join us for an engaging session exploring how big data from online and social platforms will be used to revolutionize indicators of wildlife use and trade. This innovative GEF-funded project, led by IUCN and partners, will showcase our plans for developing and strengthening near real-time, data-driven monitoring frameworks that fill critical gaps in understanding sustainable and unsustainable wildlife trade. By integrating digital data sources with biodiversity and trade databases, the project supports key Multilateral Environmental Agreements—including the CBD Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 5 and 9), CITES, CMS, and relevant SDG targets. Attendees will gain insights into our vision for developing new methodologies, stakeholder applications, and how these indicators will inform policy, business practices, and conservation strategies worldwide.
