Why attend

We will be running an session on the role of Privately Protected Areas as a mechanism for delivering landscape scale conservation actions to establish, connect and restore priority areas, hearing from local and international organisations on successes for this approach.

Session Description

This session will focus on the role of Privately Protected Areas in contributing to 30 x 30 biodiversity targets and how they can be a catalyst for wider landscape scale conservation efforts to support the IUCN Nature 2030 land impact target to ensure that ecosystems are retained and restored, species are conserved and recovered, and key biodiversity areas are safeguarded. As well as hearing examples from local conservation organizations on how they have integrated their projects into landscape scale initiatives, the session will also focus on understanding why, and overcoming barriers to, recognizing Privately Protected Areas which are often not included in national or international targets despite their role in connecting and protecting key biodiversity areas.
