Why attend

Participants will learn how locally led NbS practices in Bangladesh enhance ecosystem services and insight into the challenges and opportunities of forest, wetland, and mangrove-focused ecosystem-based approaches, which provide both adaptation and mitigation benefits.

Session Description

Across Bangladesh, communities are innovating with nature to adapt to a rapidly changing climate.

This 45-minute session will feature three best practices from BRAC, CNRS, and Friendship. BRAC will present Amar Bon, a three-tiered agroforestry model planting indigenous fruit, timber, and medicinal trees on unused land. CNRS will share lessons on how locally led wetlands and mangrove restoration help build social-ecological resilience in the saline-prone Bangladesh coast. Friendship will highlight coastal mangrove restoration, which protects communities from storm surges and sustains biodiversity. Our target audience includes policymakers, civil society actors, practitioners, and donors seeking community-driven, scalable NbS for social-ecological resilience.
