Session Description

Asia's vast rangelands are critical landscapes supporting millions of livelihoods and unique biodiversity, but they face unprecedented threats from degradation and climate change. With Mongolia preparing to host UNCCD COP17 in 2026 and the upcoming International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, there is unique political momentum to act. This high-level, 40-minute event features a dynamic "fireside chat" with a high-level representative from Mongolia, and a leading ecosystem specialist from ICIMOD. The dialogue will bridge policy and science , exploring national priorities, transboundary challenges, and a shared vision for a resilient future for Asia’s rangelands , aiming to catalyse support for a collaborative regional roadmap
