Session Description

This session will introduce species monitoring approaches and technologies being developed in Central Asia as part of the ongoing One Health in Nature Conservation in Central Asia project, funded by the German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The project focuses on addressing biodiversity challenges and the increasing risk of disease emergence due to ecosystem changes and human activities, using the One Health approach - integrating human, animal, and environmental health. Participants will gain insights into preliminary results from species monitoring and the experiences of field professionals actively involved in the project. The session will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, empowering both young professionals and experienced practitioners to contribute to the project’s evolving goals. Attendees will also explore how species monitoring efforts are laying the foundation for long-term conservation and disease prevention in the region.
