Session Description
As countries and private actors move from negotiating to implementation of the Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, strong governance frameworks are essential to ensure carbon markets deliver real, measurable climate benefits while safeguarding nature and local communities. This session will explore how governance systems — from national frameworks to voluntary standards — can uphold market integrity and embed nature-positive and social outcomes at the core of Article 6 activities. Representatives from the public and private sectors will discuss emerging best practices, integrity safeguards, and accountability mechanisms necessary to operationalize Article 6 in a way that supports high-quality emissions reductions, protects biodiversity, fosters innovation and advances sustainable, community-centered development.Organised by
