Why attend
Discover how behaviour change can unlock solutions to today’s biodiversity crisis. Learn practical tools from a global needs assessment, connect with peers worldwide, and explore strategies to integrate behavioural approaches into conservation practice for lasting impact.
Session Description
Conservation challenges are driven mostly by human actions, yet behavioural approaches remain underused in practice. This interactive session introduces findings from the Global Needs Assessment Report of the IUCN SSC CEC Behaviour Change Task Force. Based on insights from 71 practitioners worldwide, the report identifies barriers that prevent behaviour change strategies from being mainstreamed into biodiversity conservation, including limited resources, knowledge–practice gaps, and institutional resistance. Participants will explore practical pathways for transformation: building capacity, creating accessible tools, and fostering cross-disciplinary partnerships. Through hands-on activities, the session will demonstrate how behavioural science can be applied to real conservation problems and provide participants with actionable methods they can take back to their own contexts. Whether you work in research, policy, or practice, this session offers a chance to strengthen your ability to design effective interventions that address the human drivers of biodiversity loss.Partners
