Why attend

Join us to discover how veterinarians play a pivotal role in conservation through One Health approaches. This interactive session uses real-world surveillance programs to show how disease monitoring protects biodiversity, reduces spillover risks, and fosters resilient ecosystems at the human–animal–environment interface.

Session Description

An interactive session exploring the role of veterinarians at the One Health–Conservation interface, where disease surveillance supports both human well-being and biodiversity. Real-world cases, including rabies at the wildlife–captive–human boundary in Kenya, livestock; the effect of grazing livestock on the ecosystem health and pathogen transmission dynamics, and Mycoplasma shared among children, livestock, and wildlife. Overall, the session will highlight how veterinary engagement in disease monitoring and ecological interpretation strengthens conservation outcomes, builds ecosystem resilience, and supports coexistence between humans, domestic animals, and wildlife.
