Why attend
Participants will gain insight into innovative approaches to wildlife-friendly linear infrastructure across Asia, examine barriers to adoption, and join an interactive conversation on shaping a future where infrastructure and nature coexist.
Session Description
In October 2020, IUCN members approved Resolution WCC-2020-Res-071 “Wildlife-friendly linear infrastructure” to address the impacts of linear infrastructure on ecosystems, connectivity, and biodiversity. At its heart, the resolution urges cross-sectoral collaboration to mainstream wildlife-friendly infrastructure in science, policy, and practice. Four years later, how far have we come? This session will take stock of progress made, examine barriers and challenges to implementation, and explore opportunities to incorporate wildlife-friendly infrastructure approaches across sectors in Asia—such as finance, insurance, engineering, government, and academia. Panelists and participants will contribute to this conversation on how to support biodiversity gains and prioritize inclusive, nature-based, and zero-carbon infrastructure development.Partners
