Aleksandër Trajçe is the Executive Director of PPNEA, the oldest and largest nature conservation organisation in Albania. Active in nature conservation since 2004, he combines a strong scientific background with a passion for community engagement. He holds an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Roehampton. His work focuses on safeguarding Albania’s biodiversity, with a special emphasis on large carnivores such as the Balkan lynx and the brown bear. Aleksander also contributes his expertise to several IUCN Specialist Groups, including the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe, the Bear Specialist Group, and the Human–Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Group, helping shape conservation efforts at both regional and international levels.
