Aziz Abdukhakimov

Biography

Aziz Abdukhakimov currently serves as the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a position he has held since December 30, 2022. Born in 1974 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, he holds a BA in Economics from Tashkent State Economics University and an MA in Economics from Hitotsubashi University, in Japan.

With a distinguished career in public service, he served as Minister of Labour and Social Protection from 2014 to 2017, followed by his appointment as Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development in 2017 and 2018. Between 2018 - 2022, he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister - overseeing key sectors including tourism, sports, culture, media, education and healthcare - in addition served as Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. During this time, he also chaired the UNESCO National Commission of Uzbekistan.

Moreover, since 2019, he has capacity of Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, a leading institution in tourism. Additionally, he serving as Chairman of the Badminton Federation of Uzbekistan since 2009, highlighting his commitment to both sports and community development.

His leadership reflects a deep commitment to sustainable development, cultural preservation, regional and international cooperation, aligning closely with Uzbekistan’s strategic environmental and socio-economic goals.
