Claudia Arce became director within KfW Group in 2004. Since July 2020 Claudia is responsible for the Latin America and the Caribbean Department. With more than 1.3 billion EUR of new commitments per year in the region, the focus has been on biodiversity, natural resources management, renewable energy and climate resilient urban development. She joined KfW Group in 1993 and has held various positions in the institution since then, with a focus on emerging markets.

In 2011 she was seconded to the United Nations Framework Convention for the Climate Change to advise the secretariat in the design of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). During 2010 she headed the international business of the Berliner Energieagentur and developed energy efficiency models financed through ‘Public Private Partnerships’.

From 2020 until May 2024, she was part of the LAGREEN Board. LAGREEN Fund is a Luxembourg SICAV-SIF Fund and aims at developing a green bond market in Latin America. Between 2011 and 2020 she acted as director and chair for the Global Climate Partnership Fund a Luxembourg based fund to finance Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy projects through banks on a global basis. The fund leverages scarce public funds with private capital. Further, she also chaired the Supervisory Board of the Microfinance Initiative for Asia (MIFA) Debt Fund from 2011 to 2018.

Claudia Arce is a German national and studied at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She holds a MSc in International Relations.
