David AINSWORTH

Biography

David has over two decades of work in communications management, marketing and campaign development in the field of biodiversity and sustainable development.  He has worked as head of communications for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and now works for GEF Secretariat, for the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund.

He led the strategy and branding for the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity which then was transformed into the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity.  Recently he developed branding for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. 
His work on biodiversity campaigns has shown his ability to harness ideas, resources and the power of networks.  Over the years he has worked with IUCN, WWF international, GIZ, WAZA, UEBT, UNDP UNEP, the GEF, FAO, CGIAR, and a host of others.

David possesses strong communication skills, complimented by years of management experience.

David attended Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific, a United World College.  He then obtained his Bachelor (cum laude) from the University of Toronto, and subsequently a PhD in Political Science from McGill University.
