Dr. Ali Hassan Al Hmoudi is an accomplished agricultural scientist and conservation leader with more than two decades of experience in environmental management, agriculture, and biodiversity protection in the United Arab Emirates. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Science, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Plant Production and Protection.
Since 2017, Dr. Al Hmoudi has served as the Manager of Wadi Wurayah National Park, the UAE’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Under his leadership, the park has advanced freshwater protection, habitat restoration, and biodiversity monitoring in an arid landscape. He also led the preparation of Wadi Wurayah’s World Heritage nomination dossier, resulting in its successful inclusion on the UAE’s Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage status — a landmark in the nation’s conservation efforts.
His earlier leadership roles include Head of the Nature Research Department, Manager of the Al Hamranyah Agricultural Research Centre, and Manager of the Agricultural Prevention and Quarantine Department. He has contributed to agricultural science through published research on date palm physiology and fruit characteristics and has represented the UAE internationally in biodiversity and conservation initiatives.
Dr. Al Hmoudi’s career reflects a strong commitment to advancing conservation in water-scarce regions and promoting sustainable coexistence between people and nature.
