Fiona SACH

Biography

Fiona Sach works for the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), driving recovery for Extinct in the Wild species, through the newly formed Extinct in the Wild Alliance. Fiona has worked at ZSL for over a decade in a variety of roles including animal nutrition and elephant programme design, she led the trusts and foundations fundraising team, securing numerous grants through the challenging covid times, and now works to recover species on the brink of permanent extinction. Fiona earned her PhD from the University of Nottingham, where she explored the relationship between environmental geochemistry and elephant movement patterns. Her research provided insight into how mineral availability and soil composition influences migratory behaviour and habitat use in African elephants, specifically around the Phalaborwa mining area, South Africa.
