Francis Quique Álvarez is an Indigenous leader of the Harakbut people, originally from the Native Community of San José de Karene (Madre de Dios, Peru). Since 2024, he has served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of ECA Amarakaeri (Executor of the Co-Management Agreement of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve), where he promotes the defense of Indigenous territories, the protection of PIACI, and the participatory management of protected natural areas.
Throughout his career, he has held various roles within ECA Amarakaeri, linked to monitoring, control, and conservation projects, as well as teaching positions in Indigenous communities of Madre de Dios. His experience combines participatory management, intercultural education, and artistic production, reflecting the interweaving of community leadership, environmental commitment, and cultural expression that characterizes the new generation of Amazonian Indigenous leaders.
