Hayfe CHAMKHI

Biography

As a wildlife ecologist, I am dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and strengthening the link between nature and local communities. I hold a Master’s degree in Biodiversity, Ecology & Evolution from Georg-August University of Göttingen and have led conservation projects across Tunisia, North Africa and Mongolia.

As co-founder and project manager of North African Wild Traces (formerly ATRAkouda), I develop participatory biodiversity monitoring programs, build partnerships with international organizations, and empower rural communities through eco-tourism and environmental education. I often integrate my family into fieldwork, fostering intergenerational curiosity and care for wildlife.

My work combines scientific research, field ecology, and creative outreach — from wildlife photography and nature illustration to media appearances and documentary collaborations — all driven by a deep commitment to protecting species and habitats across the North African region.
