Jens Mackensen holds a doctorate in forestry and has over 30 years of international experience in sustainable land use and climate and forest protection projects in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
In addition to researching tropical ecology, Jens has worked for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Since 2005, he has been responsible for financing international projects on emission reduction in land use, renaturation and reforestation, sustainable forestry and agriculture, and biodiversity at KfW Development Bank.
Among other things, Jens established the structured eco.Business Investment Fund and served as its CEO until 2022. He is also the long-standing CEO of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund and volunteers in various roles related to forest protection.
He is particularly interested in the responsible use and management of our natural resources.
