Johannes SCHIELEIN

Biography
  • Johannes is a geographer and economics graduate with expertise in applying geospatial data to inform and improve public policies in conservation and development.
  • He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn, where his research focused on evaluating conservation effectiveness and deforestation dynamics in the Brazilian Amazon.
  • Since 2018, he has worked at KfW Development Bank, first in the Impact Evaluation Lab and later as a Product Owner and team lead for data analytics and geospatial intelligence.
  • He is a co-founder of the MAPME Community Initiative, which promotes the use of geospatial technologies in development cooperation.
  • He also co-founded NaLaMaps, an open-source framework that leverages geospatial data and artificial intelligence to make geospatial intelligence accessible to non-experts through an intuitive chatbot interface.
