Juan Carlos Jintiach Arcos, current Executive Secretary of the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities -GATC (https://globalalliance.me/), belongs to the Shuar people of the Ecuadorian Amazon. He is a member of the Interprovincial Federation of Shuar Centers of Ecuador (FICSH).
He previously served as Coordinator of International Economic Cooperation and Autonomous Development with Identity for COICA. He also served by appointment as Coordinator of the Interfederal Committee of Resistance against Extractive Industries (mining and oil) of the indigenous organizations FICSH, NAE, and NASHE.
He was appointed as an elected representative to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Green Climate Fund, and as a focal point for the Indigenous Peoples' Caucus at the UNFCCC. A candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 ((https://www.prio.org/nobelshortlist/2023), he was nominated among the 100 people who have contributed to the fight against climate change and its impacts during the 16th edition of Climate Week 2024 in New York (https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/climate-100/climate-100-list-2024-nyc-b2613432.html#:~:text=At%20just%2025%20years%20old,Bill%20McKibben).
