Dr. Louisa Richmond-Coggan is a Principal Consultant with 20 years of experience in conservation, specialising in landscape-scale initiatives in the Global South. She takes a multidisciplinary, holistic approach, collaborating with diverse stakeholders including NGOs, governments, and local communities to create impactful conservation solutions. Through her consultancy, LRC Wildlife Conservation Consulting, Louisa bridges the gap between traditional conservation practices and emerging technologies, helping conservation organisations leverage innovative solutions for lasting impact. She facilitates the use of Web 3.0 tools like blockchain and IoT to enhance conservation efforts at scale.
Louisa is committed to building an ecosystem of technologists, businesses, investors, and conservationists, working together to solve real-world conservation challenges. She partnered with Unearthodox to create the Navigating Web 3.0 Guide, designed to help conservationists understand and integrate these technologies into their work, offering practical steps to maximise impact and sustainability.
Louisa’s career includes leading major projects such as Namibia’s National Leopard Census and working with the Cheetah Conservation Fund when she developed Namibia’s first Carnivore Tracker App. She also served as Academic Dean of the School of Wildlife Conservation at the African Leadership University, nurturing the next generation of mission-driven conservation leaders across Africa. With her unique blend of conservation expertise and technological innovation, Louisa is dedicated to building capacity within the conservation community to ensure that emerging technologies drive lasting, positive impact for both people and the planet.
