Lucie SERIZIER

Biography

I graduated with a master's degree in Economic and Social Development Studies (IEDES) from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a double bachelor's degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Paris. I am interested in issues related to the protection of coastal and marine ecosystems, particularly the reconciliation of local human activities with resource conservation. The fishing and tourism sectors and the establishment of protected areas are at the heart of my areas of interest.

In 2023, I completed a six-month assignment at the French Institute in Pondicherry, where I conducted field surveys and wrote a summary of the urban, economic, social and environmental transformations underway in the villages and fishing communities north of Pondicherry. This project allowed me to develop my adaptability, intercultural communication skills and methodological rigour. I then had the opportunity to work with Maud Lelièvre, IUCN advisor, in her role at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, the third chamber of the French Republic, to actively defend the environment at the national level in France.

As a member of the Young Ambassadors for the Environment (Jeunes Ambassadeurs pour l'Environnement - JAE) since December 2024, I have the honour of representing them regularly at international summits and conferences, and of being able to give voice to young people and their ambitious demands.
