Maja VASILIJEVIC

Biography

Maja Vasilijević is a Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), where she works on European projects with a strong focus on the science-policy interface under the Convention on Biological Diversity. She has more than 20 years of experience in international nature conservation arena, having worked for and collaborated with IUCN, the European Commission, WWF, national governments, amongst others. Her key expertise lies in transboundary conservation, protected area governance and World Heritage processes. Maja served as Chair of IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas’ Transboundary Conservation Specialist Group and currently sits on the Advisory Boards of the IUCN WCPA Transboundary Conservation and World Heritage Specialist Groups. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Melbourne.
