Biography
Malu Kishorkumar is a Ph.D. scholar at the United Arab Emirates University, where she explores the fascinating world of desert fungi. Her passion lies in protecting native species such as desert truffles and desert shaggymanes, which are increasingly threatened by habitat loss. As part of the ARIFSID project, funded by ASPIRE in Abu Dhabi, she works under the guidance of Dr. Shyam Kurup, alongside a dedicated research team. Together, they aim not only to conserve these rare fungi but also to unlock their potential for sustainable commercial use. Through this collaborative effort, she hopes to bring greater awareness to the hidden treasures of the desert and their vital role in biodiversity of UAE.
