Marina Kosmus is Head of the Competence Centre for Biodiversity, Forests, and Agriculture at GIZ HQ (German Agency for International Cooperation). She brings over 20 years of professional experience in the fields of biodiversity and ecosystem services, rural development, value chains, valuation, design and implementation of economic instruments for nature conservation, sustainable development and climate change. Throughout her career at GIZ, Marina has developed a range of guidelines and training programs on tools for the sustainable management of ecosystems. She has led both bilateral and global projects in these areas, including ValuES, Private Business Action for Biodiversity as well as Water and Energy for Food. She served as a lead author for the IPBES assessment on the diverse values and valuation of nature and contributed to the IPBES task force on policy instruments and tools. Marina is also a member of the advisory board of the Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano (FFLA). She holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development from Georg August University in Göttingen, Germany and a graduate degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
