Mathias ROCHELEAU-DUPLAIN

Biography

I am the Director of Mycosphaera, the first non-profit organization in Canada dedicated to mushroom conservation. Mycosphaera also works to promote mycology, fungal conservation, and scientific education. Passionate about fungi for many years, I specialize in the study of small fungi and entomopathogenic species, as well as in the use of genomic tools to better understand their role in ecosystems.

Through Mycosphaera, I have helped build a collaborative network bringing together scientists, institutions, and citizens, both in Québec and internationally. I am actively involved in mycological inventories, scientific outreach, and the development of collective projects aimed at better protecting fungal biodiversity.

My goal is to highlight the importance of fungi for the health of forests, soils, and human societies, and to advocate for their recognition in major conservation and sustainability strategies.
