Nicole CAVENDER

Biography

Dr. Nicole Cavender is the Director of the Botanical Gardens and serves on the executive team at The Huntington in San Marino, California. She manages 207 acres of gardens and grounds and one of the world’s largest collections of plants, of which more than 10,000 species and hybrids are found at no other gardens including more than 2,500 that are part of a science and conservation rare plant program.  Her guiding principles are sustainability, education, and biodiversity conservation.

Cavender works closely with national and international botanical garden networks. Among other leadership roles, she serves as a global and US board member for Botanical Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and participates in the BGCI advisory committee.
