Oussama BOUOUAROUR

Biography

I am a marine biologist with over 8 years of experience in laboratory and field-based research, focusing on benthic communities. My research interests lie in understanding the interplay between human activities and marine organisms, particularly within coastal ecosystems. I utilize ecological tools and theory to disentangle the complexities of these systems.

My institutional affiliations, including the Society of Wetland Scientists, Association for Science of Limnology and Oceanography, and International Young Ecosystem Services Specialist initiative, keep me abreast of the latest research and best practices in wetland and ocean conservation. Beyond research, I am passionate about bridging the gap between science and policy action. My dedication to youth engagement is evident in my leadership roles as Vice President of Les Petites Débrouillards, President and Co-founder of the Moroccan Youth Biodiversity Network, and national focal point of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network. Through these roles, I have actively promoted science education, facilitated regional capacity-building workshops, and collaborated globally on biodiversity conservation issues.
