Biography

Ricky Kej, a three-time Grammy award-winning composer, is an internationally acclaimed Indian musician and environmentalist renowned for his expertise in creating music that conveys a powerful message of environmental consciousness. Born in North Carolina, USA, Ricky spent his formative years in Bengaluru, India. 

Ricky Kej's unique fusion of Indian and Western music has earned him worldwide recognition and numerous accolades and awards. In 2015, he received his first prestigious Grammy Award for the album "Winds of Samsara". 

In recognition of his outstanding work in environmental music and his dedication to promoting sustainability, Ricky Kej was appointed as a Land Ambassador for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and later, in April 2023, elevated to the role of a Goodwill Ambassador. In this role, he aims to draw attention to the work of the Convention and inspire the public and decision-makers to take practical and policy actions to achieve land degradation neutrality and related Sustainable Development Goals.

A committed environmentalist, Ricky Kej has dedicated his life to using music as a platform for positive change. He has composed and produced several albums focusing on environmental and social issues, including "Shanti Samsara," launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015. 

As an advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Ricky Kej has performed at numerous international platforms, including the United Nations General Assembly, the World Economic Forum, and the UN Climate Change Conference. In addition to his Grammy Awards, Ricky has received several other honours, such as the United Nations Global Humanitarian Artist Award, Ban Ki Moon Award, and the Producer of the Year at the South African Music Awards.
