Safira Warili Hawari DJOHANI

Biography

Safira Warili Hawari Djohani or Rili Djohani (short name) has over 30 years of experience in marine protected and conserved areas, and sustainable fisheries in the Asia-Pacific region. She co-founded the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) in 2010 and serves as its Executive Director. Rili has been instrumental in developing CTC’s Center for Marine Conservation in Bali, Indonesia and played a key role in the establishment of the multi-national Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security, where she currently co-chairs its Women Leaders Forum. She holds master’s degrees from Leiden and Newcastle University. In 2022, she received the International Coral Reef Society’s World Reef Award for her significant contributions to conservation in the Coral Triangle region.
