Salama ALMANSOORI

Biography

I’m Salama Al-Mansoori, a Plant Conservation Specialist in the Plant Genetic Resource Center Division at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD). For the past four years, I’ve been at the forefront of efforts to protect the UAE’s natural heritage, focusing on the collection, testing, and biobanking of native plant species for ex-situ conservation.

Through my work at the Plant Genetic Resource Center, which serves as a gene bank for native plants, I’ve played a vital role in preserving biodiversity and monitoring genetic diversity. I prioritize the UAE’s most threatened plant species—collecting field samples, preparing them for DNA extraction, conducting genome sequencing, and performing in-depth analysis to ensure their survival and resilience. My goal is to ensure that these species not only survive but thrive for generations to come.
