Sawyer KUHLKEN

Biography

Sawyer Kuhlken is a youth leader, diver, artist and conservationist. He has collaboratively contributed to research projects in Tela, Honduras aimed at discovering the biotic and abiotic factors contributing to the unexpected resilience, biodiversity and health of the coral reef ecosystem in Tela Bay. Sawyer has presented his marine conservation work at the WINGS Worldquest Conference in New York City, and will be presenting at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi. His goal for World Conservation Congress is to inspire leaders, scientists and organizations to include youth in their research and conservation projects. From a very young age, Sawyer has traveled extensively, working with local communities, exploring diverse ecosystems, snorkeling, diving, and participating in community science projects with Families in Nature. As a high school student, Sawyer advocates for time spent in nature among his peers and hopes to inspire others to discover and conserve the natural world.
