Youbo ZHUANG

Biography

ZHUANG Youbo is a tenured associate professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, and serves as the deputy director of the department. Her research focuses on planning for national parks and protected areas, the protection and management of World Natural Heritage sites, and the application of landscape ecology principles. She holds positions as the deputy secretary-general of the World Heritage Expert Committee of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and a consulting expert for the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO. She has led numerous studies and planning practices for some of China's most typical national parks, scenic spots, and World Heritage sites, including Mount Tai, Mount Huangshan, Wuyi Mountain, and Tangjiahe area of the Great Panda National Park. She has long been responsible for teaching courses such as "Landscape Ecology" and "Principles of Regional and Landscape Planning". She has published textbooks and works such as "National Park Planning" and "China World Heritage Capacity Building Manual". She has received awards including the International Federation of Landscape Architects' AAPME Outstanding Award of Analysis and Planning Category in 2024, the 18th "Good Teacher and Friend" of Tsinghua University, and the Outstanding Teacher for Student Social Practice at Tsinghua University.
