Help actively shape the future of The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ by participating in interactive discussions on five key topics—communications, incorporating traditional knowledge, national Red Lists, increasing taxonomic representation, and growing the Green Status of Species—to guide priorities and actions for 2026-2030.
Descripción de la sesión
The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ is a flagship initiative of IUCN. As we celebrate its 60th anniversary, we also look to the future. This session will explore five key priorities, beginning with brief updates on each and then moving into interactive discussions. Insights gathered will help shape activities for 2026-2030.(i) Communication – how can IUCN, Red List Partners and donors enhance Red List visibility? Insights from the RL@60 campaign will be shared.
(ii) Incorporating indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) – how can species assessments integrate ILK? Lessons from dialogues and case studies will be shared.
(iii) Strengthening national Red Lists – how can IUCN better support national Red List processes?
(iv) Increasing taxonomic representation – how to mobilize resources to assess lesser-known species, particularly invertebrates and fungi, amid global declines?
(v) Increasing the number of Green Status assessments on The IUCN Red List – how to mobilize resources for this?
