Por qué asistir

Plastic pollution is impacting biodiversity loss with both crises having far-reaching social, economic, and environmental consequences. This session will explore integrated solutions that address both challenges and seeks how to unlock policy and financial synergies.

Descripción de la sesión

Plastic pollution is a direct driver of biodiversity loss. Both interlinked crises impose significant economic and social costs, which are projected to escalate over time, affecting nearly all economic sectors and hindering global efforts to transition toward a nature-positive economy. Strategic financing and policy interventions can unlock synergies between biodiversity conservation and plastic pollution reduction, generating long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits. To prevent escalating costs, urgent and coordinated action is required across governance, finance, and conservation sectors. The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), hosted by the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with the IUCN Plastics Pollution agenda, will use the WCC as an opportunity to convene partners, business leaders, and government representatives engaged in biodiversity conservation and plastic pollution challenges. Together, they will explore integrated solutions to address both crises from economic, financial, policy, and social perspectives.
