Descripción de la sesión

This session explores innovative approaches for authentically engaging children and adolescents in climate governance and conservation. Grounded in principles of ethical listening and genuine participation, it showcases diverse forms of expression (verbal, artistic, symbolic, and playful) as legitimate ways for children to influence environmental policy. Participants will learn from case studies including MiniCOPs, youth-led climate conferences modeled on the UNFCCC COP; the Children and Nature Fellowship, which amplifies young leaders’ voices in global negotiations; and the EducationNatureNexus initiative, featuring the Global Child Biodiversity Declaration authored by thousands of children worldwide. The session will outline guiding principles, spotlight child-authored agendas, and provide practical recommendations for integrating youth perspectives into decision-making at local, national, and international levels. Attendees will leave with inspiration, tools, and networks to co-create meaningful spaces where children are not just participants but co-authors of the conservation and climate agenda.
