Why attend

This session will delve into innovative strategies and approaches that align renewable energy deployment with ecosystem restoration and conservation, highlighting successful projects and emerging technologies. Participants will discover how sustainable energy practices can reduce carbon emissions while contributing to nature positive goals.

Session Description

The interlinked crises of climate change and biodiversity loss are wreaking havoc on our natural ecosystems, leading to sea level rises, increased likelihood of extreme weather events, which in turn impacts livelihoods, food security, water supply, human security and economic growth. At UNFCCC COp28, positive steps were taken with the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge – a promise of tripling renewable energy and the doubling of energy efficiency by 2030, in an effort to limit global warming to levels that avoid the most extreme impacts.
The session will serve as a platform for Technical Experts and High-level Panellists to provide technical and policy guidance on the needs, priorities, and approaches to an energy transition that incorporates nature and people positive approaches. Regional partners will share opportunities and challenges in implementing a transition towards low carbon electrification in an inclusive manner that aligns with nature goals.
