Descripción de la sesión

This session aims to: (1) Showcase integrated approaches that support governments on advancing policy and regulatory tools, and capacity-building toward a plastic-waste-free world—both leading up to and following the establishment of a global plastics treaty; (2) The IUCN Centre for Policy and Law and the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law will share guidance, tools, and knowledge for capacity building for policy makers and influencers, across all levels of governance through a multi-stakeholder/intergenerational approach; (3) Demonstrate practical tools and models for circular economy and subnational waste management that move from global ambition to local implementation, including insights from WWF’s Plastic Smart Cities work; and external partners (4) introduce participants to IUCN’s World Conservation Congress Motion 059, which calls for stronger global action on plastic pollution to protect biodiversity, ecosystems, and human health on a local level.
