Daouda Ngom

Biography

Professor Daouda Ngom, Senegal's Minister for the Environment and Ecological Transition since April 5, 2024, is a full Professor of Ecology and Agroforestry, Director of the Plant Ecology Laboratory and head of the “Ecology and Agroforestry” doctoral programme of the Life, Health and Environment Sciences Graduate School (ED-SEV) at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. 

Professor Ngom is an environmental consultant and a member of UNESCO's International Advisory Committee for Biosphere Reserves. 

He has carried out research on Sahelian ecosystems, agroforestry parks and biosphere reserves. He has provided scientific supervision for 11 doctoral theses and 40 master's degrees and is the author of some fifty scientific publications in indexed and/or impact factor journals. 

Professor Ngom is a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Lion du Sénégal (2016) and Commandeur de l'Ordre National du Mérite de l'Education de la République de Côte d'Ivoire (2019).
