Why attend

Discover web-based tools designed to strengthen NBSAPs and NDCs related biodiversity policies. Food Forward NBSAPs supports the formulation and implementation of policies for food systems transformation, while NBSAP-Agroecology Handbook provides targeted agroecology-based recommendations on these aspects. Learn to apply these tools to integrate food systems into biodiversity action.

Session Description

As countries develop, update, and implement their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) to meet global and national biodiversity targets, integrating food systems presents a critical opportunity for transformative change that simultaneously advances biodiversity conservation and climate action.
This session introduces two interactive, web-based tools that help integrate food systems into NBSAPs and other biodiversity policies. The Food Forward NDCs & NBSAPs tool provides accessible, science-based policy guidance on concrete pathways for nature-positive agriculture, sustainable consumption, food loss and waste reduction, and practices for climate mitigation and adaptation. The Boosting Biodiversity Action Through Agroecology guidance (NBSAP-Agroecology Handbook) offers a structured approach to embedding agroecology into biodiversity and climate planning..
Through hands-on interactions, participants will explore how to apply these tools to align food systems, biodiversity, and climate policies, while accelerating progress toward the GBF, climate targets under the Paris Agreement, and a nature-positive future by 2050.
