Why attend

This session examines how OECMs advance the 30x30 target by strengthening integrated systems. Focusing on cases from Korea and Asian countries, it highlights lessons from the Framework Partnership, synergies with the IUCN Green List, and dynamic dialogue on equity, rights-based approaches, and biodiversity outcomes.

Session Description

This session will delve into the role of Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) in achieving the global 30x30 target under the Global Biodiversity Framework, with a regional focus on South Korea, Asia, and beyond. The session will share insights into how OECMs are being integrated into broader protected and conserved area systems. Another focus will be on the potential of the IUCN Green List as a tool for measuring the effectiveness of OECMs and enabling their global recognition.
