Why attend

As invasive alien species (IAS) have been recognised as one of the main threats to biodiversity, understanding what action can be taken to prevent, monitor and manage them is fundamental.

Session Description

This session will highlight the collaborative efforts undertaken by IUCN and its SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG), in partnership with governments, scientists, and the European Commission, to tackle invasive alien species (IAS) across the EU. It will showcase a range of resources developed to support these efforts, including species brochures, identification guides, and technical notes on monitoring and managing IAS. In addition, it will introduce the European Invasive Alien Species Rapid-Response Fund, now open to applications, which aims to prevent the establishment and spread of IAS in Europe by facilitating rapid, cost-effective eradication measures.
