Jessica FALLON

Biography

Jessica FALLON IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management 2021-2025 | Director Wild Legacy. . An ecological recovery expert and pioneer in the field of rewilding, her enhanced understanding of biological systems thinking drives efforts towards transformative and bold action. Anything less can not be expected to reap the right results. She brings passion and determination to integrating complex realities into existing systems thinking.

Failing to reverse biodiversity loss is not an option but it will require being humble and resisting the urge to compete for resources. If we can't do it from a place of admitting to what we don't know, then why do it all. If we aren't committed to achieving a radical change in outcomes for wild nature, then why are we here? Holistic and connected thinking at scale is required, along with in-depth and ongoing commitment to refining our beliefs and our actions. Words can be interpreted very differently and simplification can cause more harm than good. This Congress offers an opportunity in which to connect and integrate all the necessary components in a measured and considered way to ensure that we are on the road to recovery.

Co-author Rewilding Guidelines,  Working to integrate science (complex ecological realities) into approaches for restoration and advocate for Coexistence that requires granting more space for wild nature to exist in intact and connected ecosystems. Species have a right to live in peace in the environment that they evolved to exist in. Compassion is needed in conservation too.

Key motivation: that non human species are able to live in healthy ecosystems with equitable space to support their right to live in peace.

Core Member IUCN CEM Rewilding Thematic Group, WCPA. MSc Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health, BA sociology and Marketing Dip.
