The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is pleased to invite Members, Commissions, non-members and partnership organisations, representatives of Indigenous peoples and local communities to organise press conferences in the margins of the upcoming World Conservation Congress.

Requirements for a press conference

If wanted, it is the responsibility of the organiser to provide a media advisory to be disseminated by the IUCN press team to its media contact list at least 48 hours prior to the press conference.

The following requirements must also be met:

  • Organisers will need to have their own name plates, handouts and any necessary meeting materials with them at the time of the press conference.
  • All conferences will either be in-person or a hybrid mix, with some speakers allowed to join virtually. All participants need to be registered as Congress attendees.
  • Organisers are required to moderate their own press conferences. If you choose to make the conference available to journalists remotely, you will need to take responsibility for managing the virtual platform, including moderating questions from journalists. Access will be given as needed.
  • All press conference slots are 30 minutes. Organisers are expected to ensure that the press conference ends on time.
  • Follow-up interview opportunities, photo opportunities, and any follow-up questions should take place outside the Press Conference room.
  • Organisers of the press conference will have access to the press conference room only for the duration of their press conference.
