Session Description
This session will showcase how local entrepreneurship, value chain development, and innovative financing are driving biodiversity outcomes and strengthening livelihoods across African landscapes and seascapes. Grounded in real-world case studies from Ghana, Uganda, Mozambique, and East Africa coastal regions, the event will explore how Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs), youth, and conservation stakeholders are co-creating regenerative models that link economic opportunity with ecological stewardship.Participants will hear from entrepreneurs, conservation managers, and finance innovators working across marine, forest, and savannah ecosystems to scale nature-positive business models—from blue startups and coastal ventures to green high-end commodity value chains and biocredit markets. Through an interactive dialogue, the session will explore conditions needed for these solutions to thrive, and how policies, finance, and ecosystem-based innovation can be better aligned to deliver on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
