Why attend

Discover how African innovators and communities are transforming conservation through local entrepreneurship. This session highlights scalable models that deliver biodiversity impact and economic resilience. Join a dynamic dialogue on policy, finance, and partnerships needed to support nature-positive, community-driven economies aligned with the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Session Description

This session will showcase how local entrepreneurship, value chain development, and innovative financing are driving biodiversity outcomes and strengthening livelihoods across African landscapes and seascapes. Grounded in real-world case studies from Ghana, Uganda, Mozambique, and East Africa coastal regions, the event will explore how Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs), youth, and conservation stakeholders are co-creating regenerative models that link economic opportunity with ecological stewardship.
Participants will hear from entrepreneurs, conservation managers, and finance innovators working across marine, forest, and savannah ecosystems to scale nature-positive business models—from blue startups and coastal ventures to green high-end commodity value chains and biocredit markets. Through an interactive dialogue, the session will explore conditions needed for these solutions to thrive, and how policies, finance, and ecosystem-based innovation can be better aligned to deliver on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
