Why attend
Participants will gain practical insights into transboundary conservation challenges, proven solutions, and opportunities for collaboration in Borneo. Participants will network to strengthen multi-country partnerships and advance transboundary restoration and conservation efforts.
Session Description
This session will convene policymakers, scientists, conservation practitioners, and private sector from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia to examine shared challenges, best practices, and lessons learned in conserving and restoring Borneo’s ecosystems. Drawing on insights from initiatives such as Science Panel for Borneo and Heart of Borneo Initiative, it will discuss efforts to develop a sensible and equitable bioeconomy, green economy, and financial trajectories to enhance the socio-economic status of marginalised and poor communities, while safeguarding Bornean rainforest as a valuable carbon sink and biodiversity nerve center. The event will also explore opportunities to strengthen multi-country cooperation, promote cross-border conservation alliances, and showcase IUCN projects that can catalyse and support joint action.
