Why attend
Join us to uncover powerful stories of hope from Indonesia’s production landscapes—where tigers still roam, otters swim, and forests return. Learn how bold conservation in unexpected places is saving species and shaping a greener, more resilient future. Be part of the change!
Session Description
Indonesia’s industrial landscapes—oil palm, pulpwood, and mining concessions—are often linked to deforestation but can still support rich biodiversity. Swamps, forest set-asides, and restored habitats offer critical refuges for endangered species. A seminar titled "Beyond Extraction: Exploring Biodiversity Refugia in Indonesian Production Landscapes" will showcase field experiences from Sampoerna Agro, APRIL (RAPP), Agincourt, and Restorasi Alam Hijau. These case studies highlight efforts to protect endangered species like the hairy-nosed otter, Sumatran tiger, and Tapanuli orangutan through integrated conservation within active concessions. The event will open with a welcoming speech from the Indonesia's Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation, Ministry of Forestry, followed by expert presentations, a Q&A session, and an interactive biodiversity bingo game.
