Why attend
Learn more about Conservation Assured & specially CA|TS- in its new form of governance, being now hosted by IBCA, processes and standards and how the CA|TS model can be replicated globally for effective assessment and management of other flagship species such as big cats and River dolphins in their habitats.
Session Description
This session will highlight IBCA’s goal of fostering global collaboration and synergy by establishing a platform dedicated to sharing best practices in big cat conservation specially through developing and promoting best practices/tools for effective management of big cats following the “Conservation Assured” (CA) model. The first species-specific CA standards developed were for the tiger, followed by jaguars and river dolphins .The CA|TS scheme provides an incentive to those responsible for tiger conservation areas in the tiger range countries to improve the effectiveness of management. CA|TS, with a set of 17 minimum elements with associated standards and criteria, is a rigorous evidence based accreditation system designed to benchmark and improve the management of tiger conservation areas and covers all elements of the IUCN WCPA Management Effectiveness Framework. The session will highlight replicability of the model for other big cats, other flagship species and include presentations, CA|TS manual launch and panel discussion.Session agenda
