If you would like to learn more about crowdfunding, its potentials for advancing conservation efforts and important factors for successful crowdfunding campaigns, join this interactive session to gain insights from and exchange knowledge with practitioners, researchers and peers based on real world examples and replicable solutions.
Session Description
The Global Biodiversity Framework estimates the global biodiversity finance gap at USD 700 billion per year and calls to increase financial resources from all sources.This session aims to provide an opportunity to learn about crowdfunding as an option to mobilize funds for conservation efforts. The session will enhance knowledge based on inputs from:
- UNDP’s Crowdfunding academy established in 2015;
- Crowdfunding campaigns supported by UNDP’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN);
- Crowdfunding experiences shared on PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet platform, and relevant Solution Providers, and
- Academic papers on crowdfunding.
Through an interactive format, the session aims to enhance skills of participants in organizing crowdfunding campaigns through guided exercises and knowledge exchange with various stakeholders including academia, conservation practitioners, young people and international organizations.
