Why attend

Despite the efforts, many regions remain implicated in wildlife trafficking and unsustainable trade globally, by playing a role in illegal exportation, transit or importation of wild species or products derived from them. This event aims to present various strategies developed by IUCN Members to regulate wildlife trade.

Session Description

Aligned with IUCN's Nature 2030 Programme, the proposed event addresses the urgent
issue of illegal wildlife trafficking, a major threat to biodiversity and ecological balance. By
focusing on innovative scientific and legal measures to combat this issue, the event directly
supports the broader goal of harmonizing human activities with the natural world. The
diversity of the speakers will enrich the debates, and will also allow us to present the motions
submitted on these subjects. Promoting effective wildlife trade regulations and international
cooperation are key steps towards achieving a sustainable and peaceful coexistence with
nature.
